Mariama Tushemeriirwe Joins Creative Cornucopia Fair

Creative Cornucopia would ike to introduce to you fantastic designer Mariama Tushemeriirwe. Mariama was seduced by the fashion bug in 1984 whilst at Merrill Community School, Derby. Even though she was still young and as yet undecided on a career, she managed to design a whole range of women’s clothes including casual, evening and accessories. Immediately after leaving school the budding designer entered a period of discovery, a period which found her realising and mastering the skills needed to become a top fashion designer. Specialising in fabric application and manipulation, Mariama began to appreciate and respect the different effects that could be gained from her materials.  1992 saw Mariama realise one of her dreams of being accepted in the world renowned London College of Fashion design and technology (she received a distinction), specialising in knit wear for one year. After this she entered the prestigious Central St Martins College of Art and Design, embarking on two year course specialising in knit wear design.
Mariama has sold her designs at Portobello Market and Up Market at the Truman Brewery and has now diversified into accessories and homeware design after being inspired to create items as gifts and commissions.
